I usually aim to get about five sleep cycles a night, so 7 1/2 hours. So say I wantImagine someone wants to getgo to sleep aroundat midnight and set my alarm forwake up at 7.30 am, toso that they get those 7an ideal five sleep cycles (7 1/2 hours). I should probably
First scenario: they go to bed aroundat 11.45 to make sure I'm asleep by midnight.
But maybe I can't sleep and keep tossing and turning for half an hour,30 and eventually get to sleep at 00:15fall asleep within 15 mins, so I've gotten aboutthey get 7 hours 15 mins45 minutes of sleep. Their alarm will probably wake them up at the beginning of a new sleep cycle.
Or say ISecond scenario: they go to bed at half 11.30 but zonk out in fifteen minutescan't sleep, and Itoss and turn for 45 mins, so they get about 7 hours and 4515 minutes of sleep.
So in the first case, my Their alarm would wake me up just beforeprobably went off towards the end of thetheir last sleep cycle. In the second case, I might be just starting a new sleep cycle when the alarm goes off.
The question is: which of them wouldscenario could be worse for your sleepmore detrimental to one's health in the long-term term? WakingWould it impact your sleep health more to wake up at the beginning of a new sleep cycle, or attowards the end of the last one?
