Living microorganisms consumed or applied to complement, enhance, support, rebuild, replace the natural microbiome of a human mostly in its intestinal organs or on the skin. Species used to that end include mainly certain strains of bacteria like: lactic acid bacteria, bifidobacterium, enterococcus faecalis, escherichia coli; and yeasts, like: saccharomyces boulardii und saccharomyces cerevisiae.
