I have read that we should use dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers to treat stable angina with low heart rate. This doesn't make much sense to me since calcium channel blockers are known to cause a lowering of the heart rate, so this would surely aggravate the patient's condition: lowering his heart rate even further. Where am I wrong? Why is this kind of treatment recommended?
