I can't find any logical answer on the internet - sorry if I'm just being stupid!

In my head: if the bile duct is blocked/cholestasis (eg. by gallstones) then surely substances can't leave the liver and thus many synthetic markers would be low when LFT is taken. Why is it that many of these markers appear raised? Do they leave the liver via a different route? - if so, by which route.

Thanks in advance.
