My dentist said upper teeth extractions heal much faster than lower teeth extractions. Sure enough my upper wisdom sockets have completely healed and lower socket is still healing.

I would like to learn the reasons for this.

My oral surgeon told me the same thing ( apparently) but with more info. The bone of the upper jaw is less dense and grows back faster ; implants in the upper jaw were given 3 months to become solid. Implants in the more dense lower jaw were given 6 months to become solid. The higher density of the lower jaw makes it stronger.

  • Now if you can find a credible reference to support your oral surgeon you've got an answer. – Carey Gregory Jun 11 '19 at 4:37
